As we grow older, we become more aware of our appearances and take certain measures to improve our looks as it can boost our confidence and self-esteem.

For many of us, our teeth and smile play a huge role in that. Besides for smiling and speaking, our teeth is important as it helps to break down food when we eat.

That is why it is vital to keep our teeth clean to ensure our pearly whites remain long-lasting and healthy.

However, it might be too late for some, who then turn to wearing dentures. One of the common challenges denture wearers face is loose dentures, which affects their bite force and causes discomfort when eating and speaking.

To avoid any embarrassment, denture wearers often end up having to stay alert and vigilant, constantly worrying that their teeth may suddenly fall out.

On top of that, denture wearers have to avoid sticky or hard foods like sticky rice, glutinous rice balls and nuts.

Polident user who wished to be known only as Norsidah, started wearing dentures when she was 35 years old. She shares her experience wearing dentures.

“As time goes by, my dentures started to become loose and I had to cover my mouth when I talked because I was afraid that it would fall out,” she said.

Another challenge denture wearers face is getting food stuck in between their dentures and gums. If undealt with, it can cause bad breath and poor oral health.

According to a GSK research, cleaning dentures using a normal toothbrush and toothpaste, or soaking it in water, is not effective. Dentures are 10 times softer than natural teeth, hence normal toothbrushing is not recommended as it causes scratches and damage to the dentures, leading to bacteria and plaque build-up.

Polident Denture Cleanser is formulated to clean dentures without scratching its surface pores whilst removing tough stain and plaque. It also kills 99.9% of odour-causing bacteria, thereby preventing bacterial growth. Denture wearers are advised to keep their dentures clean and fresh using Polident cleanser to maintain their daily oral hygiene.

On the other hand, Polident Adhesive Cream is formulated to improve denture fit and comfort by holding dentures tight for up to 12 hours. It provides denture wearers 38% more bite force and helps prevent food trap between dentures and gums, giving denture wearers the confidence and reassurance to go about their daily lives without worry.
