A pen-like tool helps surgeons spot cancer cells

By AGENCY

Surgery, as seen in this filepic, is a common treatment for cancer, and a new pen-like tool can potentially offer doctors the ability to be more precise in removing cancerous tissues during this procedure.

One of the biggest worries for patients undergoing cancer surgery is whether surgeons will miss some of the diseased tissue.

That worry could be over with a new pencil-sized tool developed by scientists and engineers at the University of Texas at Austin, United States, according to a study published on Sept 5, 2017.
