Irene Chui-Seetoh (front, left) sees the similarity between dragon boat racing and fighting cancer: both take a lot of endurance and determination.
When she first picked up a paddle some 11 years ago, Irene Chui-Seetoh saw dragon boating mainly as an activity that could help her recover from breast cancer. The treatments she had to undergo had taken a huge toll on her, both physically and emotionally. So, when her support team from the Breast Cancer Foundation in Singapore encouraged her to try dragon boating as a means of recovery, she decided to give it a go.
Almost immediately, the mother got hooked onto the sport and she hasn’t put her paddle down since.
