Great Eastern Life invites visitors to its booth to experience a host of exciting activities lined up for the whole family during FitForLife 2015 fair.

Are you happy? Is the person next to you happy? What about the friend you just spoke to on the phone? Is he or she happy?

The question is: how do you measure happiness? There is no happy-meter to gauge how a person feels, but there are ways to live a happier and more meaningful life.

The United Nation’s (UN) General Assembly proclaimed March 20 as International Day of Happiness.

It is a day for us to recognise the relevance of happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations in people’s lives.

In their survey of happiness, Malaysia ranked 56th out of 156 countries in the UN’s World Happiness Index in 2013.

The report was done based on six factors: real GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, having someone to count on, perceived freedom to make life choices, freedom from corruption and generosity.

As many of us realise the importance of being emotionally happy, we continue to seek multiple ways to keep ourselves satisfied and ensure a balanced lifestyle, both physically and mentally.

However, do remember that happiness is not only about emotional well-being.

Being physically healthy is also a major factor. Being healthy also reduces the risk of contracting a critical illness.

In Malaysia, the number one killer in terms of disease and health-related problems is coronary heart disease.

In 2010, the total number of deaths from coronary heart disease was 22,701 (World Health Organization). This constitutes about 22.18% of total deaths in the country.

This is one of the primary driving forces for Great Eastern Life in addressing this alarming matter, by keeping our brand promise as a LIFE company to inspire Malaysians to lead a healthy lifestyle, not just for themselves, but also for their loved ones.

Supporting this effort to emphasize the importance of happiness in our daily lives, Great Eastern Life is collaborating with The Star in the FitForLife 2015 fair (previously known as The Star Health Fair) on April 10-12.

Themed “Get Fit, Live Great”, the event aims to inspire Malaysians not only to live a healthy life, but also to nurture great emotional wellness.

These initiatives promote a holistic approach that includes both physical and mental fitness, financial health and general happiness.

Great Eastern Life director and CEO Datuk Koh Yaw Hui shared his thoughts:

“We want to inspire more youths to take up a more holistic approach in their lives and take ownership in maintaining a healthy body, mind and soul.

“That is why the activities designed for FitForLife 2015 are centred on demonstrating various ways for the younger generation to live great holistically.”

The Great Escape Challenge will be one of the highlights at the event.

Located at the Great Eastern Life booth, the Great Escape Challenge will test visitors’ analytical skills and instil bonding among friends and family members.

It is a team challenge consisting of two to five players. Participants will be “role-playing” secret agents and trying to solve a series of clues to break out “alive” from the challenge. The game is specially designed by Breakout Malaysia – Real Escape Game.

Upon completing the Great Escape Challenge within the eight-minute time limit, visitors will be able to take part in the Premium Grab where they will be put into a tumbling capsule and attempt to grab as many gift slips as possible.

Visitors will also be eligible for a chance in the Premium Grab capsule with every RM50 spent at Live Great partners’ booth.

There will be iPad Minis to be given away at the booth daily on top of other exclusive products and merchandise.

You can also take this opportunity to capture interesting and mind-bending photos at the Live Great Adventure 3D Mural where illusionary 3D mural installations will be put up for visitors to expand their creativity and tickle their gray matter.

Great Eastern Life will also be giving a chance for lucky visitors to win fantastic prizes worth more than RM100,000.

Visit Great Eastern Life’s booth to find out how you can win yourself an iPhone 6, a Samsung Note Edge and other exciting giveaways.

In line with Great Eastern Life’s brand promise to inspire Malaysians to turn their health intentions into direct actions, the company aspires to be the catalyst to help encourage Malaysians to stay motivated while achieving their goals in life.

“We want to encourage Malaysians to live great and take the initiative to make life great.

“The satisfaction and joy that we get by seeing our customers live great continue to push us to initiate innovative ideas and exciting events for Malaysians,” concluded Koh.
