Dig deeper when seeking weight loss advice online

Anyone searching online for quality information on weight loss should expect to filter through junk advice first, for it's highly likely to show up before better sources do, according to a new US study.

"Since the first links that appear on an Internet search, regardless of the topic, receive nearly 90% of all clicks," says lead study author François Modave, PhD, chair of the Department of Computer Science at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, "this steers consumers to substandard information."
