In conjunction with Malaysia’s fifth World Digestive Health Day (WDHD) 2013 celebrations, the Digestive Health Advisory Board (DHAB) will for the first time organise a “Healthy Digestion Walk”.

The walk will be held on May 26, 2013 at Taman Bandaran Kelana Jaya, Selangor.

The event is part of DHAB’s efforts to get the public off the couch and on their feet to walk and exercise for better digestive health.

The walk also aims to encourage people to enjoy and incorporate physical activity into their lifestyles for improved digestive health.

According to Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan, chairman of the DHAB, exercise and physical activity is good for our health. “Our digestive system is an amazing thing. It converts food into energy, absorbs essential nutrients and vitamins, and even does ‘guard’ duty by fighting off bacteria to keep you healthy and strong. Subsequently, it is directly linked to the health of your entire body. Should it ever fail, you would experience a decline in your health, which could cause many other seemingly unrelated diseases,” he emphasises.

Besides the walk, the coming WDHD celebrations will include a roadshow that will be held at Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya, Selangor, from May 24 to May 29, 2013. The six-day roadshow serves as a fun and educational platform to learn more about your digestive health.

The event is sponsored by the VITAGEN Healthy Digestion Programme.
