THE Nagano Prefecture, located in the centre of Japan, is more widely known for hosting the 1998 Winter Olympics, the 1998 Winter Paralympics and the 2005 Special Olympics World Winter Games.
Its other major achievement, however, is in a slightly different arena: Nagano boasts of the longest men’s life expectancy in the world, with the men living up to 78.9 years on average.
