The death of Dana Reeve from lung cancer has cast the spotlight on women’s lung cancer risk. However, the fact remains that breast cancer is the number one cancer killer in Malaysian women. A recent development in breast cancer treatment is the approval of a drug (in the United States) called letrozole as initial therapy for treatment of postmenopausal women with early breast cancer after surgery. Here, we have consultant surgeon Prof Yip Cheng Har’s thoughts on this recent development as well as the breast cancer situation in Malaysia.
