Crispy chi gu (nga ku in Cantonese) chips are getting to be very popular among Malaysians. The chip was one of the most addictive titbits served during Chinese New Year to usher in the year of the Golden Dog.

Chi gu chips are made from the corm of the Chinese arrowhead plant, scientifically known as Sagittaria latifolia. Its most distinctive feature is the starchy corm produced by the plant. The corms are yellowish or brownish wrapped up in membranous scales.
