Many people drink alcohol socially without any ill effects. The consequences of alcohol misuse are potentially harmful. Mild to moderate consumption of alcohol can lead to alcohol dependence in some instances. This can result in the development of physical and mental health problems, injuries, poor work performance, violence, legal problems and social problems. 

Alcohol problems are treated with simple advice, counselling, social behaviour and network therapy and medications.
