Fear for their jobs affects an employee’s health, a representative survey of approximately 2,000 working people conducted by the research institute of the AOK health insurance company showed.
Complaints by employees about illness and symptoms are more frequent in companies facing job cuts than in companies in which no reduction in personnel is planned or has taken place. As an example, complaints of nervous tension and irritability were more frequent (48.4% ) in companies facing job losses than in a comparable group (39.4% ).
