ON May 27, 2004, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US announced the results of the largest study ever conducted in its shores to determine the extent of the use of alternative medicine.
Since the early 90s, I have been a proponent of alternative medicine. Nevertheless, I was thrilled by this study. There have been numerous studies that showed that alternative medicine was on the rise. This was the largest. More importantly, it was carried out independently by the US government. Furthermore, it gave credence to meditation and even prayer – which have until very recently been relegated to the fancies of the minority fringe.
