UVA ursi (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) is a small perennial evergreen shrub, which has white bell-shaped flowers that bloom from June to September and also has small edible red berries. The small dark green leaves of Uva ursi may turn a brownish colour in the autumn, but they do not fall off the plant.

White or pink flowers that bloom in the summer are followed by clusters of orange or red berries. Although the berries are edible, they are not used much as food due to the bitter taste. They are said to attract bears, hence they are also known as “bearberry”.
