It's World Health Day tomorrow, and the theme for this year is Healthy Environments for Children. HOOI YOU CHING and MENG YEW CHOONG explore two ends of the spectrum to find out how the future of life is shaping up to be.

TRADITIONALLY, World Health Day is celebrated by thousands the world over to mark the importance of health for productive and fulfilling lives. This year, the theme is Healthy Environments for Children, and despite the advances that have seen man exploring the frontiers of space and delving into the secrets of live through genetics, worryingly, there are still millions of children who die from environmentally related illnesses. Such threats to children's health most often lurk in places that we consider the safest – the places where they live, play and study.
