IT is among the most silent of illnesses and yet it can destroy a person’s work and relationships. It brings on shame among those who suffer its effects and, sadly, ridicule, anger, and impatience from their friends and family.
The illness is called obsessive-compulsive disorder. Although it has been reported in children, it strikes most often during adolescent or young adult years. The illness can affect people in any income bracket, of any race or ethnic group, and in any occupation or profession.
