Breakfast – or break fast – with these filling, healthy recipes

Mashad says everyone has to take extra care of their bodies during Ramadhan, which is why his sahur recipes are healthy, nutritious and wholesome.

During Ramadan, you wake up to a long haul ahead. Traditionally, you would fuel up with a mountain of rice and curry. Not Mashad Pino. He is on a gluten-free, starch-free diet that he says makes him feel “amazing”.

So he endorses replacing traditional rice breakfast dishes with other options we now have like quinoa. “It’s packed full of nutrients and you get loads of protein to keep you feeling full, but the calorie count is much lower than rice,” he says.
