'The Most American Thickburger' from Carl's Jr and Hardee's.

Sibling restaurant chains Carl's Jr. and Hardee's are rolling out a 1/3-pound (150g) beefburger bun that comes with a bed of potato chips, a layer of salad, and a split hot dog sausage on melted cheese.

It's a tweaked version of a patty sandwich that has previously been known as a Fourth of July Burger or a Picnic Burger.

The patriotic provision goes on sale on May 20, in good time for this year's July 4th holiday, with a price tag of US$5.79 (RM21) for the MAT itself or US$8.29 (RM29.50) with a soda and slice of apple pie, and as USA Today notes, Carl's Jr has already developed a reputation for experimental burger combos with a mainstream audience in mind.

But this celebratory dinner's cost is not only measured in dollars and cents the meal contains a hefty 1,063 calories, 64g of fat, and 2,350mg of sodium within its toasted bun. – AFP Relaxnews
