Food Trail finds a restaurant near Penang that serves great claypot crab rice.
HERE’S an interesting email from reader Willie Yau.
It reads: “Hello Samo, I am an avid follower of your work. But you very lazy la! Always write about food near your house and around the Klang Valley. You got no lubang on good food outside KL ah?”
Okay Willie, thanks for your concern.
For starters, StarMetro’s Central edition is where you can find the Food Trail column. It’s also localised to the Klang Valley.
We do have a northern Metro edition, but that is confined to Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan and parts of Terengganu.
If I step out of the boundary, it would be directly in conflict with my counterparts in the north, including states in the far south.
And to travel around the country in search of makan, we actually have people doing that in the features section.
But for your sake, okay lah, I'll break the rules. If I kena hantam from my bosses, I am taking one for you.
So, here is a story on my recent trip up north.
I am not a big fan of mud crabs.
Why? It’s a tedious job eating the crustacean. You have to break open its shell, then slowly pick the meat out.
But I give Restoran Cia Xiang an exception.
