For durian lovers, the pulut durian and bubur kacang hijau durian are simply heavenly.
A variety of Malay kuih are also served, like badak berendam which is green oval-shaped gummy balls in a sweet ginger-based soup which reminded me of the Chinese tong yuen (glutinous rice balls), apam balik and onde-onde gula Melaka.
This year, besides the buffet spread which offers over 100 types of dishes, there are live action stalls, resembling a bazaar.
Each stall features a speciality item which will be cooked upon order.
Among the stalls, two will offer tauhu bakar and keropok lekor.
Other stalls include char kuey teow, ayam golek, satay, ikan bakar, grilled seafood, popiah basah, fish and chicken tandoori as well as grilled otak-otak.
The noodles stall serves an assortment of noodles that are rotated on a daily basis, such as mee rebus, mee kari, mee celup, laksa Kedah, laksa Johor, assam laksa and more.
Executive sous chef Shamsuddin Ahmad said seven different menus would be rotated throughout the fasting month.
“However, the emphasis will be on the live action stalls and our signature dishes like Sup Gearbox
— a popular bone marrow broth laced with local spices, tom yum, fish ball soup with glass noodles and soto ayam.
The nasi kandar and nasi beriyani gam, with all the accompaniments, are also a must-try.
“Another popular favourite is the roasted lamb. Sometimes, three whole lambs are used,” he said.
The lamb roast which is marinated with a variety of spices, is juicy and succulent and served with either mint or barbecue sauce.
The promotion is available until Aug 7.
It is priced at RM88++ per person (adult) and RM44++ (child).
