Lazada ends Online Revolution blitz with record sales

Internet shoppers spend five times more than last year in month-long Malaysian ‘Cyber Monday’ campaign.

ONE month after the launch of the Online Revolution blitz, a South-East Asian version of North America’s “Cyber Monday” sales promotion aimed at Internet shoppers, Malaysian e-commerce giant Lazada.com.my brings its month-long marketing campaign to a big finish on December 12.

In the last eight years, Cyber Monday has become one of the busiest shopping days for online retailers in the US. It’s held annually on the Monday after Thanksgiving, when consumers back from the holidays continue their “Black Friday” shopping spree as they look for serious online discounts.

The Online Revolution has been a tremendous hit with local shoppers, with Lazada Malaysia recording a substantial increase in sales compared to last year, almost five times more than 2012. Computers and electronics like Notebooks and LED TVs were among the bestsellers of the campaign.

To mark the last day of the sale, Lazada is launching a new look for one day only. The updated layout is designed to make the website even easier for shoppers to grab last-minute deals. Prices will be slashed to their lowest ever, and shoppers will have 24 hours to enjoy some special deals. Among the offers are:

> Extra discounts of up to 90 percent on "revolutionary deal" items;

> Mega discounts on featured brands including Kenwood, Lenovo and Fujifilm;

> Bundled discounts on items like the Lenovo Essential Desktop PC with a free SSK multimedia headset and mic;

> Additional discounts of up to 15 percent for Visa cardholders on selected pre-order products like the PS4 and stock ready items like the Casio Exilim;

> Extra three points for Bcard loyalty card members.

Shoppers with a minimum purchase of RM100 who "Like" the Lazada Malaysia Facebook page could get one of a thousand RM10 vouchers being given away. And the shopper who spends the most on Dec 12 stands a chance to win one of the top voted products from the "re-VOTE-lution games", which includes Beats headphones and Olympus VG-165 14MP Silver cameras.

Lazada will also be selling gift cards valued at RM50, RM100, RM150 and RM250.
