Teaching kids to share and cooperate

I am a 29-year-old mother of four children aged 10 months to eight years old.

I believe that developing a child's EQ (Emotional Intelligence) is essential as it develops their self-awareness and empathy and helps them to be sensitive to others' feelings.

Since I have four kids to deal with daily, I have to make them understand and practise their EQ so that they will not fight with each other (which is the case with my children on a daily basis). I try to get them to be nice to each other and cooperate by making them share their belongings and sometimes their food. When they decline, I reprimand them and teach them a lesson by not buying their favourite treats immediately after that.

I would really love it if I could have an educational toy to assist me in developing my children’s EQ so that they would grow into responsible and considerate people.

It would be a great blessing to be able to watch the kids grow into matured and very responsible teens and later, adults.

With all the technology in our children’s lives today, it is very difficult to instil good EQ in them, what with the non-educational cartoon series and some with violence, too. Even videogames are sometimes bad because of the violent content and with no moral values. This is why I encourage my older kids to play outdoors rather than watch TV and play games.

I do hope that my kids' EQ is strong and will help them to be good children and citizens as I have much hope in them.
