No jigsaw too hard

“Jigsaw-puzzle man” - that is what he’s known at home. My son, Dhev Aditya, has been putting together jigsaw pieces from the age of 18 months. It started when he was playing with his ABC foam floor puzzle which served as a playing mat as well. Without missing a day on it, he would sit and construct the mat with the correct alphabets in their spaces.

I then went on to buy him a 12-piece jigsaw. He absolutely loved it. Soon, it was quite obvious it was too easy for him. So, along came a 40-piece Barney puzzle. Within a month, he had the collection of six different Barney puzzles. Not long after, at age two and a half, he had moved on to 100-piece Disney-themed jigsaws like Toy Story, Cars, Mickey and Friends.

One day, while clearing up, I accidently knocked over six of his puzzles and the pieces got mixed up. I sighed and thought to myself that it was going to take hours to separate them, when Dhev came to the rescue!

He said, “Don’t worry, Mummy. I can fix it!”

What I saw next was shocking to me but at the same time it made me swell with pride. All he had to do was pick up each piece and he knew exactly which board and where it belonged. It took him almost 30 minutes but like a church mouse he was quiet and worked until he completed all the puzzles!
