I have had two miscarriages in less than one year. The first being in June 2010, three weeks prior to our Chinese wedding ceremony, and the other in May 2011.
Imagine my joy (and worries) when a recent pregnancy test result came back positive!
As much as my husband and I were happy to have conceived, we were also worried about history repeating itself as we had heard that frequent miscarriages leads to habitual miscarriage.
We have taken every precaution with this pregnancy. My daily activities are now limited to work, visiting the traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in the evenings, and going home.
Being someone who cherished my freedom too much, this has been a big sacrifice on my part.
At times, I would lash out at poor hubby for my lack of freedom.
But last Friday, I had a bit of spotting and I was worried sick.
“Could it be another miscarriage?”
I immediately went home and lay down. The next morning, I rushed to my gynaecologist for a checkup and to our relief, our baby's heart was beating strongly and the gynae said that this pregnancy might be a successful one after all.
After the scare, I became more “obedient” and took my “curfew” more seriously, and took my Chinese herbal concoctions more willingly.
God willing and with God's grace, we will be welcoming our baby dragon in June 2012. It will be double the joy for us, as we were both dragon babies, too!
