Explain and listen
With communication. I would explain the procedure to him, why he needs to see the doctor or dentist and also listen to him about his fears. I would explain to him that everyone has fears but the way we handle the fears makes the difference. Kid-friendly doctors
We have been very lucky with our family doctor and dentist. When we first moved to Sydney, Australia, I joined a local playgroup and did some research by talking to the other mums. The main criteria was a 'kid-friendly' doctor/dentist. We have the same doctor and dentist as we did when the kids were toddlers. Remain positive
I take my kids to child-friendly doctors! The doctor we had in Singapore treats many kids and has a very charming way with kids. The dentist we have here in Sydney is a paediatric dentist/orthodontist, so his clinic is SO colourful with stuffed toys peeking out of every corner, and he gives stickers to all kids after the session. Also, nowadays, kids medicines are so yummy that they don't mind taking them!
