What happens when a timeless folktale is retold not with words alone, but with the soaring power of a full orchestra?

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra is set to unveil Symphony Of The Seven Scrolls — a family-themed concert that blends storytelling, music and dance into one magical experience — tomorrow (Oct 18). Happening at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, KLCC at 2.30pm, the concert unfolds a legendary tale through seven musical segments.

Actress Nadia Aqilah takes on the role of narrator as Puteri Gunung Ledang, guiding the audience through the story, while choreographer and theatre director Pat Ibrahim serves as creative director.

Under the baton of resident conductor Gerard Salonga, the MPO will bring the tale to life with classical masterpieces including Mahler’s Symphony No.1, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, Grieg’s Morning Mood, Prokofiev’s Romeo & Juliet Suite, Mussorgsky’s Night On Bald Mountain, Debussy’s Nocturnes and Stravinsky’s Firebird: Finale.

Attendees can also look forward to newly arranged versions of beloved local folk tunes such as Chan Mali Chan, Jong Jong Inai and Rasa Sayang, alongside the patriotic favourite Tanah Pusaka.

Additionally, Pewaris Seni Anak Tari and Precision Movement Dance Group are expected to take the stage, making the show experience even better.

Tickets are priced from RM98 to RM158, with special school trip packages offering discounts of 10% to 20%.

Bookings can be made by contacting the Box Office at 03-23317007 or email boxoffice@dfp.com.my for further details.

More than just a concert, Symphony Of The Seven Scrolls reflects the MPO’s mission to make music accessible to all, nurturing a love of the arts across generations.
