If you’ve graduated from university, embarked on a new career or business, started a charity, or climbed a mountain at the age of 50 or above, tell us all about it, and inspire others along the way.
That’s the objective of the Be A Star After 50 campaign. Organised by Star Media Group in collaboration with Nutren Optimum by Nestle Health Science (NHSc), the campaign celebrates Malaysians aged 50 and above who refuse to let age get in the way of leading a fulfilling life.
The contest is open to those who have proven themselves to be exemplary role models in the four pillars which form the S.T.A.R. acronym: Sporty (physically active), Tender-hearted (charitable and community work), Ambitious (upskilling and self-improvement), and Radiant (health and wellness).
The Sporty Category is awarded to persons who have shown achievement, commitment and dedication to their sport, whether it is participating in friendly matches, being an ardent runner, or having extraordinary sports achievements at a national or international level.
They will need to demonstrate the way they maintain and practise an active and healthy lifestyle, highlight their achievements, share about challenges they face, how they overcome them, as well as how the sport has impacted them positively.
The Tender-hearted Category is awarded to people who are passionate about giving back to society, whether it is through investing their time and energy to volunteer in community programmes, or carrying out small acts of kindness that have a meaningful impact.
They will need to demonstrate how they practise corporate social responsibility in their daily life, and their achievements attained in this area, such as running an old folks’ home for the needy, running a community programme for the neighbourhood, or helping young ones with their education.
They will also need to share how they have overcome challenges, as well as how their involvement in charity work has made a positive impact.
The Ambitious Category is awarded to persons who have demonstrated a strong desire and determination to succeed in the lifelong pursuit of knowledge and success despite their age.
They might have pursued their further education, started a business or embarked on a new career later in life. They will need to share about their achievements, any challenges they have faced and how their ambition has impacted them positively.
The Radiant Category is awarded to persons who have demonstrated excellent health and wellness attributes, as well as compassion and purpose in their social contribution towards self-improvement.
They are those who have helped to broaden society’s definition of beauty and show the importance of self-worth through their efforts in living a healthy life.
They will need to share about their achievements (whether it is having a great skincare regime or participating in a fashion show), how their efforts have impacted them positively and improved their life, challenges they faced and how they overcome them.
Exciting prizes totalling up to RM20,000 are up for grabs in the contest.
