It isn't easy being a social media influencer if you're in Egypt, especially if you're female: five female social media influencers were sentenced by an Egyptian court to two years in jail each on charges of violating public morals when they posted on video-sharing app TikTok.

Haneen Hossam, Mowada al-Adham and three others were charged after they had posted on TikTok.

"The Cairo economic court sentenced Hossam, Adham and three others to two years after they were convicted of violating society's values," the judicial source said.
