Abdominal injuries in children are unique and different from those in adults, hence, it’s important to bear in mind that injured children (particularly those under eight years of age) should be treated in a tertiary centre under the care of a paediatric surgery team.
Head trauma is the most common and leading cause of trauma-related death in children, with abdominal trauma coming second.
