Happy first birthday, Prince George of Cambridge!

The world’s most famous toddler turns one on July 22.

George Alexander Louis aka His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge will be celebrating his first birthday on July 22. A big, lavish party at Kensington Palace is probably what everyone expects a prince like him to get, but rumour has it that the kid’s parents, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge are planning something more low-key and private.

So far, George’s “milestone” celebrations – first family portrait, christening – have been pretty much low key, except for his birth (of course) and his first official tour with mum and dad to Australia and New Zealand a few months back. It’s a conscious effort by William and Kate to make sure that their child grows up away from the limelight and prying eyes as much as he can.

It’s a good move, really, especially since George tends to steal the spotlight from everyone, everywhere he goes. We think it has a lot to do with his high level of cuteness (although his uncle Prince Harry recently said he looked like a young Winston Churchill) and his spiffy outfits.

Here are some of our favourite pictures of George, taken throughout his first year.
