The show, Facing Up To Fazura, is set to go on air in December.
E!, the pop culture channel of NBCUniversal International Television, is to produce its first locally-made miniseries from Malaysia.
The docudrama Facing Up To Fazura will give viewers an in-depth and unscripted look at entertainment diva and socialite Nur Fazura Sharifuddin's (Fazura) often-controversial life on and off the camera. Developed and produced by Matchbox Asia, Facing Up To Fazura begins production in Malaysia later this month and will go to air in mid-December.
The five-part 30-minute series is executive produced by Karen Wiggins, who also produced E!'s first local Filipino series It Takes Gutz To Be A Gutierrez.
“E! combines the best of Hollywood with the breakout stars from Asia and we are excited to build on our commitment to the local entertainment industry and shine the spotlight on this Malaysian artist and bring her to the global stage," said Christine Fellowes, managing director of Universal Networks International, Asia-Pacific.
“E!'s success is driven by the exclusive access to celebrities and Facing Up To Fazura is a perfect fit for our channel." E! has produced local specials featuring top Malaysian showbiz talent like actress Lisa Surihani and singer Yuna (whose show E! News Asia Special: Yuna premieres Nov 25 and is also produced by Matchbox Asia), as well as a show on Singapore’s leading man Aaron Aziz. — Reuters
