The American R&B crooner is set to perform in Malaysia in May.

American singer Peabo Bryson is coming to Malaysia in a few months for a one-night-only concert at Genting Highlands.

Bryson, 63, undoubtedly has a long list of popular songs in his portfolio but for many of us who grew up watching Disney animated features in the 1990s, the two tracks we associate him with are Beauty And The Beast and A Whole New World.

While Bryson will most likely perform these two famous tracks during his show at the Arena Of Stars, it is safe to say that Celine Dion (who sang Beauty And The Beast with him) and Regina Belle (A Whole New World) will not be joining him on stage.

Thankfully, Malaysia has tons of talented female singers who could help the “king of the balladeers” out with the two songs. We decided to list down six up-and-coming Malaysian singers who we think should do a duet with Bryson.

1. Elizabeth Tan

Last year’s YouTube darling is really making a name for herself in the local music industry; a few weeks back she performed as the opening artiste for Christina Perri in Kuala Lumpur, while her official music video for Knock Knock is set for a release very soon.

Tan is signed under Faithful Music, a company formed by another powerhouse Malaysian artiste, Faizal Tahir, and you can expect to see more of her in the upcoming months.

2. Bihzhu

If you’re looking for cleverly written and beautifully sung songs, do check out Bihzhu’s music. The singer-songwriter currently does not have that many tracks under her belt, but she has proven her musical talent time and again in live performances.

Bihzhu aka Nicole Foo hails from Penang and releases a new music video for her original track, Bright Veins (produced by The Spacemen), today.

3. Stacy Angie

Stacy Angie Anam is the winner of Akademi Fantasia Season 6 way back in 2008, when she was only 18 years old. Hailing from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, the singer – who goes by Stacy Angie these days – is currently signed to Warner Music Malaysia and has three albums so far.

Stacy is working on a new music video for Not For Sale, a track that features rapper Altimet.

4. Fynn Jamal

Fynn Jamal started her career as a quirky indie singer, performing at music small festivals and gigs around the country. Last year, Fynn and Tri Hadzir – her husband and music partner – released a self-titled EP which unfortunately did not receive the attention it deserves.

5. Hanie Soraya

Another young artiste that’s under the care of Faizal’s Faithful Music, Hanie Soraya is bubbly, cheerful and a medical student. Yes, Hanie is busy pursuing a medical degree in Egypt, but somehow still has time to dabble in music.

Hanie was even once quoted as wanting to be the “singing doctor”, something that might just become a reality soon. Her YouTube channel features a number of homemade videos that show her performing covers of mostly indie and rock tracks.

Do you agree with our list? Suggest some singers for us but try to name those who aren’t already super famous like Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, Jaclyn Victor or Shila Amzah, who could all definitely sing both tracks well.
