Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau has long had a special connection to Malaysia – after all, his wife Carol Chu hails from the country and was once a prominent model.

The 63-year-old actor often visits with Chu, whom he married in 2008, and their 12-year-old daughter Hanna during Chinese New Year festivities.

Earlier this week, Shaun Ng, chef of the Michelin Selected restaurant Hide KL, shared a photo with Lau on Xiaohongshu (Red Note).

In the picture, the Heavenly King, dressed casually in a jean jacket and white pants, was seen smiling warmly as he posed alongside Ng in the restaurant’s kitchen.

The post was captioned: “What an honour. Don’t blink. It’s not AI. Thank you for the arrival of the superstar Andy Lau. That night, he really came. It was indeed an unforgettable evening.”

Lau was reportedly at the restaurant for a private dinner with close friends and family.

While the exact reason for his recent trip to Malaysia remains unclear, many speculate that it was to visit his in-laws.

Fans have since flooded the post with welcoming messages for Lau. Others also expressed their hopes of running into the Goldfinger (2023) star during his stay.
