Manuel Masalva, one of the stars of Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico, is in a coma and fighting for his life.

The 43-year-old contracted a “very aggressive virus” while on vacation, fellow actor and friend Marion Moran, explained in a recent TikTok post.

“My brother is fighting for his life far away from home,” Moran said.

A GoFundMe has been launched to help pay for his expenses while he is in the hospital. Moran wrote that he “remains in critical condition.”

“The bacteria has already been detected, he’s on antibiotics, and we’re waiting for him to begin to improve,” he wrote.

People reported the GoFundMe has raised more than US$50,000.

“The medical costs are enormous and in a country where everything is more difficult, any help, no matter how small, can make the difference in this very difficult moment,” Moran said on TikTok. “If you can contribute, we thank you with our entire hearts.”
