Hari Raya is just a week away, and Malay-language radio station Suria FM is helping listeners get into the festive spirit by offering a selection of programmes with its "Raikan Yang Dirai" campaign.

One programme you don't want to miss is Suria FM's Hari Raya short drama, Suami Raya, available on YouTube.

The one-hour romantic comedy revolves around Yasmin whose mission to get married before Hari Raya is met with plenty of challenges.

Suami Raya – shot in three days around Klang Valley – stars Suria FM presenters Cik Piah, Datuk Fizz Fairuz, Ajak, Kai Hassan, Suraya, Rara, Chiwan and the station's general manager DJ Lin.

Making a special appearance is local actor Azlee Senario, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 14th Malaysian Film Festival for his role in Senario The Movie (1999).

"We at Suria FM would like to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya and hope to bring some joy to our listeners in the days leading to Hari Raya," said DJ Lin at a recent buka puasa event in Kuala Lumpur.

She continued: "This year's Raya drama is special as it's a romantic comedy, which is something Suria FM never explored before."

In a roundtable interview joined by StarLifestyle, Cik Piah – who sings, Nak Suami Raya, the drama's original soundtrack – said she never expected to land the lead role in Suami Raya.

As someone who has mostly played "light" roles, the 35-year-old admitted that it wasn't easy portraying the many emotions of Yasmin.

"Before production began, I thought all my scenes were going to be funny.

"When I found out that I had to do a crying scene, I was unsure if I'd perform well.

"Coincidentally, one of my kids landed in the intensive care unit (ICU) while I was filming and thinking of them helped me shoot the scene successfully," Cik Piah said before adding, "I nailed it in one take!"

Meanwhile, Kai – who plays Yasmin's love interest – said he feels honoured to star in a Suria FM drama. The 29-year-old joined the station last December.

"Suria annual Raya drama is something that's highly anticipated.

"Even before joining Suria FM, I would watch all the station's Raya dramas, which is why I'm grateful and excited for the opportunity to star in one now," he said.

Suria FM will also be having a special edition of its morning segment from April 8 to 12. Tune into the Morning Morning Suria Raya show from 6am to 10am to listen to Fizz, Ajak, Suraya and Kai chat with local talents like Nabila Razali, Aziz Harun and more.
