One of the most remarkable things about Pixar Animation Studio’s latest movie, Elemental, is how lifelike the characters seem, despite being basically made up of elements like fire, water, air and earth.

The fire characters, in particular, are beautifully realised – like actual fire, their bodies are in perpetual ‘burning’ motion, and they even alter colours or shapes when their mood changes, or when they are interacting with the other elements.
