Those who grew up watching TVB in the 1980s and 1990s would be familiar with Kathy Chow Hoi Mei.

She was one of the lead stars on the Hong Kong broadcaster's stable and appeared in many hit series such as The Breaking Point and The Feud Of Two Brothers.

The actress, now 55, has long left TVB so she has no problem spilling the beans on her former employer.

Appearing on a talk show recently, Chow recalled the insane schedule when she was signed to TVB.

“I once shot for four, five days straight and there really wasn’t even time for me to sleep," she said, adding that it was common to have an all-day shoot which lasted till the next day.

The actress recalled one incident where she had to beg the director to let her leave so that she could go home to shower.

“I felt like I was really stinky, just like a salted fish. There was no way I could continue filming,” she said.

Chow also said that TVB didn't engage stunt doubles for its stars so she was left to do her own stunts.

“Not having time to sleep was a usual thing, and filming scenes where I had to jump from a high-rise building were not unusual too." said Chow, adding that the company was so stingy that if she requested for a stunt double, she would have to pay for it herself.

Currently, Chow – like most Hong Kong actors – is working in China. She starred in the hit Chinese series Ashes Of Love in 2018.
