Applications now open for MyCreative schemes and initiatives

MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd (MyCreative) has opened applications for a variety of assistance schemes and initiatives under 10 creative sub-sectors, in line with the National Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana).

Chairman Mohd Naguib Razak said the schemes and initiatives cover: content creation (including film, broadcast and streaming content and videogames), music, fashion, performing arts, visual arts, literature, traditional and cultural arts, culinary arts, design, and creative education.

"Applicants can tap into a variety of schemes and initiatives such as live event grants, digital marketing grants, matching investments schemes as well as very attractive fast track, low-interest soft loans.

"These measures will further be complemented and enhanced by Creative Industry Digital Velocity programmes comprising digital marketing and promotion training, connectivity assistance and advisory services,” he said in a statement on July 22.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on June 5 announced the government’s allocation of RM225mil to spur the growth of the creative industry through programmes and soft loans under Penjana.

Mohd Naguib said MyCreative acknowledges the responsibility that comes with the mandate to carry out measures in the most efficient yet urgent manner and is committed to applying its know-how to add value, helping to future-proof the creative industry and making its voice heard.

The available assistance under the Penjana plan for the creative industries among others, will include digital marketing and promotions grants, creative industry recovery grants, digital events and exhibition grants and literature and publishing grants.

"MyCreative’s overall role is to help businesses make the difficult transition to becoming more digital in order to remain relevant and competitive in the ‘new normal’."

He said MyCreative has also arranged a collaboration with the private sector, beginning with partnerships with Google, Facebook and Yes, to help players adapt to new normal through training in digital distribution methods and promotion, development of new business models, and connectivity.
