After a month-long hiatus, singer Nana Sheme is back with renewed vigour.

The singer told The Star's Malay portal mStar that the hiatus was “the best thing she had ever done for herself, ” and explained that she spent her off-time reconnecting with people important to her.

Nana, who is known for her single Hantu Atau Buaya, also said that taking a break had worked wonders for her mental health.

“Even though it might not be visible, I feel so much happier now. I’m more motivated to compose new songs, so I hope my fans are looking forward to that. I’ve also been frequenting TikTok; I find it a good way to entertain myself without having to worry about what others are thinking, ” shared the 25-year-old.

Nana clarified that her reason for going on hiatus was not industry pressure. Rather, she revealed that she has been dealing with trauma since age 12. Nana sees a professional psychiatrist for therapy, and her hiatus was part of the treatment for this ongoing problem.

“I am not a victim, but a survivor, ” she said.
