Barter trading is making a comeback.

With many choosing to hoard goods during the Covid-19 pandemic, model-TV host Chrissy Teigen has turned to the old-fashioned system of exchange instead.

Teigen made a proposition to her 12.5 million followers on Twitter yesterday: “I’ll make a banana bread for anyone that has romaine lettuce. The trade will be made 6 feet apart and we will place the goods on the floor. no funny business.”

One follower, YouTuber Chris Klemens, answered the call, with three heads of romaine lettuce to offer.

A deal was struck, with Teigen tweeting: “Ok Chris. I trust you. Let me make this bread and I’ll be in your area tomorrow early afternoon!!”

The two parties then showed up at a vacant parking lot and made the trade, standing six feet apart.

Teigen got the romaine lettuce she wanted and ended up giving only half a loaf of banana bread (saving the other half for her family), but sweetened the deal with two slices of pie and a bottle of wine.

Sounds like a win for both!
