If you're a Star Wars fan, you've probably heard that some new footage of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker was screened at last weekend's D23 convention. Well, that new footage is now officially out, and it raises some big questions about the upcoming movie, which is due Dec 20.
It starts out with a montage of all the Star Wars films that have come before, from A New Hope to The Last Jedi, before moving on to some awesome new footage of the upcoming film, featuring the late Carrie Fisher's General Leia, the Resistance meeting a MASSIVE fleet of Star Destroyers, C-3PO with red eyes (is he going Sith too?) and a lightsaber duel between Daisy Ridely's Rey and Adam Driver's Kylo Ren.
At the very end, we see Rey, looking all dark and sinister, holding a double-bladed RED lightsaber, that folds out into a twin-bladed Darth Maul-esque one.
What could this mean? IS Rey truly going over to the Dark Side? Or will this just turn out to be just a vision Palpatine gives Rey in order to lure her over to his side?
To be honest, quite a bit of thought seems to have been put into that dual-bladed lightsaber, and it doesn't seem like the sort of thing that would be wasted in a mere vision. Then again, after the incredible leaps of fancy The Last Jedi made in terms of how powerful and unpredictable the Force can be, we can't be certain about anything anymore.
What we are sure of is that this is going to be one epic finale to the Skywalker saga!
