The Pool.

Peach and Fon (aka Pachara Chirathivat and Sananthachat Thanapatpisal), the leading duo in Thai comedy Bikeman, are coming to town on Saturday (March 23).

The 10.30am meet and greet session at Pavilion KL is open to the public, just look for the link to register at Thai Trends in Malaysia FB page.

This event is held in conjunction with the second Thai Film Festival here, at selected Golden Screen Cinemas outlets in the Klang Valley (Pavilion KL, Mid Valley and 1Utama) and Gurney Plaza in Penang from March 21 to 27.

All screenings are free: Just present this article at the cinema ticketing counter on the day of the screening (no advance redemption) to get two complimentary tickets, while stocks last.

Organised by the Royal Thai Embassy of Malaysia, a selection of seven films are offered this year – two up from its inaugural edition in 2017, where there was five.

“We chose a good mix of all genres and we hope to bring more joy to the Malaysian audience with this kind of variety.

“We also included a documentary, 2,215, which won Best Documentary and Best Original Song at the Thailand National Film Association Awards (Suphannahong National Film Awards) this year,” says Nutta Vasantasingh, first secretary of the Royal Thai Embassy.

She adds that another standout is thriller/drama/fantasy film Homestay, which won Best Supporting Actress, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing at the same event.

“Films are the best means to tell stories, to appreciate different ways of life and culture. It is our hope that they will create further understanding between Thailand and Malaysia, and bring us very much closer,” she adds.

The Pool

This is a documentary based on the true story of Artiwara Kongmalai, a famous Thai rock singer who dedicated himself to a 55-day, 2,215km run to raise funds for hospitals.
