Radio station Suria shines spotlight on cancer

Malay-language radio station Suria is organising a cancer awareness week beginning Feb 25.

Its various radio segments will feature experts in the field discussing the different types of cancer.

For instance, Dr Hafizah Zaharah Ahmad, an oncologist from the National Cancer Institute, will be speaking during the Team Pagi Suria segment on Feb 28, 6am to 10am.

Singer and actress Elyana, who is battling stage four cancer, will also be sharing her story to inspire listeners.

Senior programme manager Roslinda Abd Majid, better known as DJ Lin, hopes the initiative will help raise awareness about cancer, and inspire cancer patients to not give up their fight the disease.

She also hopes listeners will learn the importance of regular medical check-ups, allowing early cancer detection.

Suria presenters Issey, Fizi Ali, Sharifah Shahirah, Tyzo, Suraya and DJ Lin will also be visiting the wards at the National Cancer Institute on Feb 26.

The Suria Wheels squad will be going around the Klang Valley to distribute brochures and the different coloured ribbons representing the various types of cancer.
