Move aside, Pokemon Go. Hugely popular K-pop group BTS is launching a 'treasure hunt' that is roping in its legions of fans, called ARMY, from all over the world to create a massive database of memories of the band.
"ARMYPEDIA consists of a total of 2,080 days, from the date marking the debut of BTS on June 13, 2013 to February 21, 2019. You can think of ARMYPEDIA as an archive of all your memories with BTS, each and every day for 2,080 days."
There is also a tutorial on what the website is all about, and what fans can look forward to.
It basically wants fans all around the world to start looking for pieces of a puzzle which each represent a specific date from June 13, 2013 to February 21, 2019, unlock it with their phones, and then start posting their memories of the band on that date.
Here's an example given by the website:
[quote_center author=""]June 13, 2013 is the date of the debut of BTS, which makes it “puzzle no. 1” out of the total 2,080 puzzle pieces. If an ARMY manages to find the first puzzle piece located somewhere online or offline and answers the question on that piece correctly, the first puzzle piece has now been discovered and the corresponding date, in this case June 13, 2013, is unlocked.[/quote_center]
According to the website, once the campaign kicks off on February 25, "ARMY will have four weeks to find all 2,080 puzzle pieces that will open each date card, and once a date card is unlocked, any ARMY can freely upload something about BTS related to that date, or your own special memory of BTS that happened on that date".
What this will essentially create is a massive archive of BTS-related memories and events that will be able to document the band's rise from aspiring boy group to world-dominating phenomenon within those 2,080 days.
According to the Soompi report, BTS's agency Big Hit Entertainment has not officially announced its involvement with ARMYPEDIA, but has reportedly applied for a copyright for the ARMYPEDIA logo.
The website is set to launch on February 25 (Monday), so get your smartphones ready, ARMY, and go catch them all!
