A Discovery Of Witches

The year may be coming to an end but there’s no shortage of new TV shows to watch. Here are four of our favourites this December:

A Discovery Of Witches

Based on the novel of the same name by Deborah Harkness, A Discovery Of Witches, set in Oxford University, opens with historian Diana who comes across a long lost magical manuscript which awakens something in her. Diana is actually a witch but that’s something she wants nothing to do with ... until the manuscript came along.

There’s also a forbidden love storyline between Diana and vampire and biochemistry professor Matthew, who’s helping her guard the manuscript. Witches and vampires usually don’t mix, let alone fall in love with each other.

We’re picking up on some major Twilight vibes here. Twihards, you know what to do. The British series stars Teresa Palmer, Matthew Goode and Edward Bluemel.

A Discovery Of Witches airs Dec 13 at 9pm on Foxlife (Astro Ch 711).

Want more supernatural-themed series? Try Mexico’s Diablero. A girl is kidnapped in Mexico city and a young priest, a demon hunter and a paranormal expert band together to find her.

At the same time, they have to fight off the evil forces they encounter along the way. Starring Christopher von Uckermann, Humberto Busto and Dolores Heredia.

Diablero is available on Netflix on Dec 21.

Fresh Off The Boat Season Five

Family comedy Fresh Off The Boat is back for a fifth season. One of the interesting episodes sees the Huangs discovering that there’s a Chinese family that just moved in to their neighbourhood.

Reggie Lee and Ming Na Wen play husband and wife while Jimmy O. Yang play their son who got accepted into Harvard at 16.

Fresh Off The Boat Season Five airs Dec 9 at 9.25pm on Fox HD (Astro Ch 724).

Meo Me & You

Cats aren’t just adorable furry beings, they can serve as matchmakers too. In Thai series Meo Me & You, a romance novelist writes about love but she has never fallen in love herself.

All that changes when she chances upon a cat which leads her to a photographer who manages a cat cafe. Starring Esther Supreeleela and Phuphoom Pongpanu.

Meo Me & You is available on dimsum.
