Malaysian rapper Joe Flizzow has been named Best South-East Asia Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), ahead of the live show airing at 3am (Malaysian time) on Nov 5.
The 38-year-old Malaysian beat out nominees Afgan (Indonesia), IV of Spades (Philippines), Minh Hang (Vietnam), Slot Machine (Thailand), The Sam Willows (Singapore) and Twopee Southside (Thailand) for the title.
"I would like to dedicate this award to all my fans and friends back home in Malaysia," Flizzow, who is in Spain for the award ceremony, said in a recorded video message posted on his Instagram.
"I believe this goes to show that even though we are small in numbers, when we come together united, we can achieve many things."
Joe Flizzow got his start as a member of the hip-hop duo Too Phat in the late 1990s. His 2013 hit Apa Khabar made history as the first hip-hop song to win Best Song at the prestigious annual song competition, Anugerah Juara Lagu.

The 2018 MTV EMAs will air live at 3am and 7pm on Nov 5 on MTV Asia (Astro Ch 713).
