We've seen Spider-Man rebooted on the big screen three times already, with three different actors. Now, get ready for another Spidey tale when Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse hits cinemas this December.
Thankfully producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (the same people behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street) are opting to go a different way to tell this Spidey tale. Not only is this film an animated feature (the trailer looks absolutely gorgeous), it is also set in a different universe than ours.
The main Spider-Man in this film is not Peter Parker – although good old Peter does make an appearance – but a high school kid named Miles Morales, whose dad is a police officer in Brooklyn.
In this universe, too, we have 'Spider-Gwen' Gwen Stacy (who dons a stylish Spidey suit) and Spider-Ham (aka Peter Porker – the animal parody of Peter Parker/Spider-Man). This is a way better solution than rebooting the same story over and over again, we think.
Voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber and Lily Tomlin.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is scheduled to open at cinemas nationwide on Dec 13.
