Director Robert Rodriguez tackles a story based on the manga series Gunnm by Yukito Kishiro in the live-action film Alita: Battle Angel.

Set in the future when robotic technology is thriving, a cyber-doctor (Christoph Waltz) discovers an unconscious cyborg in a scrap yard. He fixes her up, and names her Alita. She, however, has no recollection of who she is and how she ended up as trash.
