dimsum.my, an Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming service provider by Star Media Group Bhd, is piping hot and ready to be served!

The streaming service was launched tonight (Nov 8) offering a variety of Asian content. It is now available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store, and can also be viewed on Windows and Mac at www.dimsum.my.

Present at the launch was Star Media Group chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, and group managing director and CEO Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai. In his speech, Datuk Fu said the company had come a long way from being a small newspaper from Penang to now becoming a media group.

“Our next part of the journey continues our strategy into digital entertainment within the OTT sphere,” he shared. “We have specifically put our focus into the video-on-demand space, which is currently taking the world by storm.”

In Mandarin, dim sum means “touch your heart” or “order to your heart’s content”. In that respect, dimsum.my subscribers can choose from 10,000 hours of content including movies, dramas, documentaries, variety shows and children’s programmes from China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea and Malaysia.

“This product will serve the best Asian content – the A-list shows, with exclusives, premières, and same-day same-time release with their country of origin,” Datuk Fu added. “This is a big leap for us in transforming our business and preparing us for the future.”

The ceremony was officiated by Communications And Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

“Tonight we see the birth of an all new video-on-demand service,” he said. “With the rise of subscription video-on-demand services, dimsum.my gives access to high quality and fresh legitimate content at such a reasonable cost.”
