It was confirmed earlier this week that Green Lantern will be featured in the planned Justice League movie.
The last actor to play Green Lantern was Ryan Reynolds, in the 2011 panned film. Star2.com met with Reynolds in Taipei, Taiwan on Jan 21, where he was promoting his latest movie, Deadpool.
Reynolds, 39, was asked what advice he would give to the next actor portraying Green Lantern.
His answer: "It's all about the script. There were 150 of hardworking men and women working on Green Lantern when I did it. None of them wanted to make a movie that didn't work. But, the studio system is such that, they make movies based on a poster and an idea. What they need to do is to have a script and then say 'how do we develop this script into a better script?' and then make a movie. Sometimes, they just go for a release date and say, 'Here's too much money, now go figure it out'. And that's not a great system to make a quality film.
"So, I would say to the next person who is going to be in that place, 'you better hope there is a script there, for starters'.
Reynolds went on to share some details about Deadpool. "Deadpool had a script six years ago that largely stayed the same. The architecture of the script is the same, the jokes we change everyday, (but) the story points are pretty much all the same."
Reynolds is both the star and producer of Deadpool; he has pursued to make this film based on the Marvel comicbook character for 11 years now. He first played Deadpool in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
For the past few days, Reynolds had been showing the film to chosen fans who would, in his words, "go insane for".
Deadpool opens in Malaysia on Feb 11. The film tells the origin story of an anti-superhero named Deadpool, who is known for his non-stop chatter ... mostly in the form of insults.
