Robert Kirkman is set to bring to Cinemax the new show that’s based on his upcoming comic book.
AFTER writing the comic book series that inspired AMC’s hit zombie series, Robert Kirkman is preparing to bring a new project to the HBO-owned channel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new series will be adapted from Kirkman’s forthcoming comic book Outcast, arriving in bookstores in 2014.
The story focuses on Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been possessed by demons since childhood. In his quest for answers to his spiritual questions, he discovers something that could lead to the end of life on Earth. In addition to writing the pilot, Kirkman will produce the new series alongside The Walking Dead producer David Alpert.
The resulting show will air on Cinemax, which won out over a number of other channels hoping to land the very promising series.
In recent years, the HBO affiliate has invested in an increasing number of original series. Since last January, the channel has been home to Banshee, the latest series from Alan Ball, the creator of True Blood and Six Feet Under.
Following the immeasurable success of The Walking Dead, networks have kept a close watch on Kirkman’s work. Since 2012, AMC – home to the famous zombie series – has been working on an adaptation of Kirkman’s comic Thief Of Thieves, which tells the story of the master thief Conrad Paulson. – AFP Relaxnews
